A New Title for The Earl of Wessex

It has been announced today from Buckingham Palace that The Queen has granted The Earl of Wessex the additional title of Earl of Forfar.  Today is the Earl’s 55th birthday.
The Earldom of Forfar was first created in the Peerage of Scotland in 1661, as a subsidiary title to the Earl of Ormond.  It became extinct in 115 upon the death of the 2nd Earl.
The Earl of Wessex serves as Patron of numerous organizations in Scotland, and is Trustee of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
When in Scotland, Edward and Sophie will be known as TRH The Earl and Countess of Forfar.
