New Swedish Prince Named Prince Oscar, Duke of Skåne

At Thursday, March 3, 2016, a Cabinet meeting was held at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, Sweden on the occasion of the birth of Crown Princess Victoria‘s son. At the meeting King Carl XVI of Sweden informed the Cabinet that the prince will be named Oscar Carl Olof, with the given name Oscar. There have been two Swedish kings named Oscar.  Carl is in honor of the prince’s maternal grandfather King Carl XVI Gustaf.  Olof is actually Prince Daniel’s first name.  The prince was given the title Duke of Skåne.
Princess Estelle visited the Karolinska Hospital in the morning with her father Prince Daniel and met her little brother. The entire family has now left hospital and is at home at Haga Palace. All are doing well and are very happy.
On Thursday March 3, 2016 at 12.15 p.m., a Te Deum thanksgiving service was held in the Royal Chapel at the Royal Palace of Stockholm in connection with the royal birth.
